The LEGO Braille Bricks concept is available in 18 languages and is distributed or being tested in 32 countries (in 2024). The toolkits contain enough characters for over 100 fun and educational activities, but not all 63 possible dot combinations are available. If you need more, make them yourself!
Depending on the specifics of your language or learning objective, you may need additional characters.
For example, you can make bricks with special characters for teaching a foreign language, writing contracted braille, advanced maths or music.
To make extra bricks, use 4x2 plates, 1x1 flat tiles and 1x1 plates.
Try to use only one colour, especially if you are working with partially sighted children.
If you want to make a full set of braille bricks because they are not available in your country or language, remember that you don't need to make the 63 combinations. You can do all the activities with 36 letters.
